 Problem:

Hi, my OBDSTAR key master 5 (X300 Pro4) cannot do anything its showing error.

How to fix it?

1.Restart device.

2.If not working, delete current software and download software again.

Download software requires your device under subscription. If the subscription expires, need to renew and download.

OBDSTAR DC706 Clone GM ACDelco E39A ECM Step by Step

 Tutorial: how to clone GM ACDelco E39A ECM step-by-step using OBDSTAR DC706 on bench.

Model example: 2014 GMC Arcadia

Purpose: engine hard start, there were ECM code saying that lost communication with the ECM.  Need to replace ECM module (with an used one)

 

Procedure:

We’re going to go ahead with the cloning process.

Check wiring diagram. As you can see right here two Powers, ground can high, can low.

Get the module connected with dc706 and jumper cables. Put on Wi-Fi.

We’re going to do on bench mode. Turn on ignition on P004 adapter.

Press ECU Info, it should communicate and give us the VIN number and everything of the vehicle ECU.

We’re going to go ahead and back up the eeprom and the Flash.

You’ve got to connect first before you can actually read and modify the eeprom and the Flash.

Read the shadow flash password and save.

Read internal eeprom and save. Read eeprom very fast.

Read internal flash and save. It takes about 3 minutes.

Then read pin code and as you can see there’s the PIN code for this vehicle is 1833.

We’re now going to connect up the donor ECM with obdstar dc706 and write this information into the donor ECM and then connect it to the vehicle.

Go ahead and connect it up and then we’re going to copy the data over to it.

We got everything hooked up and gave power to the ECM.

Read ECU infor, that’s the VIN for the donor ECM. Back this up.

Backed it up as in this step is not necessary but just did it anyway.

We’re going to write the original flash to the donor ECM. Load External file.

It’s already in our default folder and it’s called it should be this one internal flash.

It’s going to first erase the flash on the donor unit before it writes the file to it.

It’s successfully written the Flash so now we’re going to write the eeprom.

Load it from external file and it is already in our default folder.

Write the eeprom should be pretty quick. It is written.

Read the PIN code which should reflect the first one 1833.

So now we’re going to do disconnect.

Read ECU info of the donor ECM again. It should reflect our VIN number from the vehicle and not the donor ECM.

Then connect ECM to the vehicle. It should be Plug and play now.

Remove the original and plug in our donor that we just cloned and see if there’s any change this vehicle.

If there is an extended crank, clear fault code because some PCM error messages were occured.

There is no security light and it should be a crank and possibly no start because there’s most likely an engine issue here so checking light came on right away.

Security light should go off and it did so that is a successful clone.

In sum:

Each tool has its strength and weakness. OBDSTAR DC706 is standalone. It has good coverage.  The monthly updates are great as they are adding many new modules all the time.

It is so easy to set up and go. The instructions are top notch, they use real pictures of the ecu and pin out diagrams are very clear, and then they even give you step by step instructions on how to do the job.

DC706 is the best for GM Delco ECUs. Even Motorsport Flex didn’t work on some of these BCMs. Its well worth the purchase. The downside is that it won’t do checksum correction.

FC200 is user-friendly. Software is simple, clean and easy to use.  You have the ECU’s and they tell you whether you can read them in obd, bench or boot and functions read/writer dflash, pflash, password etc. It tells you the capability for that ecu. It also gets a bunch of pins and each pins got its different size to fit on these pins.

But it mostly does Bosch ECU and some siemens old ECUs and only some BMW ECU has OBD. Don’t have a lot of Japanese ECUs (siemens or denso ecus)

Some prefer DC706 as it’s fully independent /portable but also like fc-200.. once additional pcms are added to dc706, it will be hard to go to fc-200.

OBDSTAR DC706 Asks for MP001 Programmer?

 Problem:

I try to connect BMW EDC16cp35 ECU with OBDSTAR DC706 with P003 adapter but is impossible.
Check wiring diagram many times
On diagram I have this – Kline on 4 pin. In description pin 8. I try both. no work.
DC706 doesn’t read/write the internal flash. Failed to clone ecu.

Solution:

On the DC706 it says to use both MP001 and P003 adapters.

The function is only supported by P003 adapter and MP001 programmer.

OBDSTAR DC706 Recovery Mode

Getting Started Question:

I have an OBDSTAR DC706 cloning tool and see that it has recovery mode. if you do the procedure does it virginize the ecu?

I need to replace the ACDelco E98 ECM, the original ECM is not communicating. I have a donor (used one) with the exactly same service number.

How to virgin ECM so I can then program with SPS2?

Answer:

Recovery Mode:

If you have low voltage or other problems while uploading the flash to the ECU, the ECU will be in recovery mode. You won’t start the car, but you can upload the flash again via recovery mode.

Virgin ECU:

If you want virginized ecu you must change immo part of flash to FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF in a lot of cars thats all. In some cars you need adapt synchro code and pin to flash.

If the Delco ECU is not communicating and you can’t read it by bench, you have a hardware problem. You need to fix it first.

 

If you have I/O Terminal you can clone it. Copy and paste MPC.

That’s all. There is no seperate eeprom.

For this kind of ecu it also has a boot pinout. Check wiring diagram.

 

If failed to clone ECU. Virgin firmware for the ECU and program it through SPS.

 

How to Virgin GM Opel ACDelco ECUs E78, E83, E87, E98 etc?

If you want to reprogram used ecu by gm sps2 you must first virginzed it. Then gm sps2 will detect the controller as a new one, not programmed anywhere.

Dealers have no interest in reusing second hand ecms, they only force you to get a brand new one and program it inside their dealer service.

 

It depends on the type of ECU and main microcontroller in it . In most cases, it works like this: if you know the Pin Code of the car from which the ECU comes, that’s half the battle. After converting the pin to HEX, you can find where it is saved in the file and replace it with the FFFF value. This will allow the controller to read the PIN from another module associated with the immobilizer, e.g. BCM. Sometimes it is enough to remove the vin from flash.

I/O terminal has the ability/alghoritm to make a virgin in delco ECU. ioterminal can reset this ecu to virgin state.

There is eeprom utility in ioterminal soft , read eeprom with tool > reset dump to virgin state > load back eeprom to ecu , that’s all. But for reading eeprom you need ioterminal tool – kess can’t read this area.

I/O decrypts the seed key and you need to follow the complete procedure in order to reset thos junk ecm.
Reset on acdelco can be made if the ecm sees the enviromental of the original car. With other words, ecm need to be connected with the rest of original car modules, in order to accept reset. You can unpair it with sps only on donor car.
IO Terminal only for read / write / reset . If you lost information, you can’t recovery ecu with IO terminal. So you need to find full flash from other car , reset it with IO and program to your car.
