Question:

I saw there is an Advanced function under Airbag reset of OBDSTAR X300 DP Plus? What does it do?

Does it require license or adapters?

OBDSTAR X300 DP Plus Airbag Reset Advanced Function

No all airbag has advanced function, only a few.

It is a bonus function. Need to have airbag reset function activated. No extra license or adapter required.

It is used to read and write eeprom/flash of the ECU.

If there is this menu, give priority to this function and backup EEPROM/Flash data.

Write VIN: use this function to write back the correct VIN after erase crash.

OBDSTAR DC706 Clone Jeep GPEC2 ECM in Boot Mode

Here are the instructions to clone Chrysler/Jeep/Dodge Continental GPEC2 ECM with OBDSTAR DC706 & MP001 programmer.

You will need

OBDSTAR DC706 ECU TCU cloning tool

MP001 programmer

ECU Jumper cables (or bundle set with DC706, MP001 and jumper cables)

GPEC2 ECM

Extra power supply.

Procedure:

In DC706 select ECU Flasher->latest ECM software version.
Search Jeep GPEC2 MPC5566+659320
Select Boot Mode with MP001 (you can also use P003, P003+)

The function requires network connection.

Read instructions and wiring diagram.

For BENCH & BOOT (workbench) operation, please use a reliable high-power DC regulated power supply (current not less than 5A) to power the ECU. OBDSTAR’s standard power adapter (current 2A) is only used for device charging and is not recommended for ECU. power supply, otherwise communication may fail due to low power of the power adapter!

There are 3 connections available, you can use P003, P003+, or MP001 connection

To use P003 or P003+ connections, you will need to prepare a 120ohm resistor (to connect between the CAN high and CAN low wires.)

You don’t need to connect a 120ohm resistor if you use the MP001 connection.

We are working in boot mode, we need to open the ECU shell first.

Then connect the wires following the OBDSTAR DC706‘s prompts.

After the connection completed, we follow the instructions to locate the BOOT to connect the wires.

After connection is done.
Press Connect

Connect with ECU successfully.

Now read the eeprom and Flash data of the original ECU.
Read and save EXT eeprom

Read and save INT flash

Then write the EEPROM and Flash data into the new ECU.

Once the writing is complete, the new ECU can be installed and used in the vehicle without programming.

OBDSTAR DC706 DiagProgram Application has Stopped Solution

If OBDSTAR DC706 does not come in anymore after software update, only displays the error ‘the DiagProgram Application has Stopped’. How to fix it?

Solution:

In this case you will need a firmware reflashing (reset to factory setting).

Flash file is not open to everyone. Contact our customer service by providing your serial number.

Download the Firmware Flash file and operation instructions to flash your device.
After reflashing the firmware, the device will be restored to factory settings.
You need to reconnect to WiFi, then enter the personal center to log in your account again.
After logging, enter the one-click upgrade to download software and install.

The reflashing procedure is similar as other OBDSTAR tablets, just use specific flash file.

Attention, on this model, when adding the second key, the free hand and centralization function does not work on this second key.
Now you can fix this problem you need to program a 3rd key (Xhorse freehand) as a bug.
From here on, the first 2 keys will work properly (freehand and remote centralizing) and only the 3 keys will not work freehand.
For your information, this problem is the same as using the Autel Im608. (same issue).

I only had this problem with Citroen C4 and C4 Picasso freehand.

OBDSTAR DC706 Failed to Clone GM 6L80 TCM Solution

Problem:

I acquired an obdstar dc706 and I want to clone a tcm 6L80 Chevrolet and I don't give communication I tried with 4 and can't any suggestions would be appreciated.

Updated. Voltage is the problem.

I had low voltage use a fountain in 12 volts and the module came 10 check volts and done. Thanks.

How to Transfer OBDSTAR G3 Files from Tablet to PC?

Sometimes you need to move memory files from your OBDSTAR X300 Classic G3 to a USB drive in order to change the data or de-clutter your files. Here is a tip on preparing the USB so the G3 can accept the files.

How to Transfer Files from OBDSTAR G3 Tablet to PC?

Preparing a USB Drive for Use With a OBDstar G3 Tool.

The procedure is similar to DC706.

NOTE:

It works best if properly formatted. The G3 tool seems a bit more fussy than the DC706 when it comes to the USB drive.

Format your U drive and creat a new folder for G3.

Clone Fiat 500 8GMK ECM with OBDSTAR DC706

OBDSTAR DC706 software works perfectly on European Fiat 8GMK, 8GMW, 8GMF ect ECUs, tested many times.

Our customer did a Fiat 500 8GMK cloning the other week witout problem at all.

You can read, write and clone those ECUs on bench using P004/MP001.

FYI: You can clone those ECMs via P004/MP001 or even with godiag GPT adapter.

For example 8GMW works when connected with Godiag, or thru the pins on P004. You can use the godiag breakout harness instead of p004, it is much easier this way. It also has the 120ohm built in.
