OBDSTAR DC706 SIMTEC 76.1 Asks for 4 Digits Code Solution

Problem:

One of our customers was trying to read a Continental Simtec 76.1 ECU from a 2013 Chevrolet Cruze using OBDSTAR DC706 programmer. When he attempts to read the flash memory using bench mode,  it provides a 4-digit code and prompts to enter a second 4-digit code, how to derive the pin code/seed code?

Solution 1:

It’s not a PIN code; it’s the Key calculated based on the Seed.

You cannot read it on bench mode. Do it via Boot mode instead—it only requires a single cable.

You do not need this digit code if you perform the operation in boot mode.

Simtec does not use a 4-digit key. If the ECU is Chinese, you cannot read it—only via boot mode.

Solution 2:

You can extract the 4-digit code with DPS.

The secret lies in knowing the seedkey—the key it requests when you select the “read” option. You can extract the seedkey using DPS.

You need to know the algorithm, and you can obtain it from the Seed-Key table.

Solution 3:

Some managed to do it using the original kess3/2 programmer. It will read both flash and eeprom.

The immobilizer data is in the Flash.

Solution 4:

Plug in AVDI/FVDI etc read the password and perform the adaptation.
If need to clone this ECU, read old pin of car, read new pin from ecu. Read both Pins, unmarry donor, then do matching with diag soft like learn a new from dealer.
